Right now I am preparing to send my early decision application to Cornell but am starting to have some second thoughts namely due to the rumors ive heard of tough grade deflation and rigorous grading practices at Cornell.
I know that the average gpa at Cornell is around 3.4 (which im assuming is much lower for those in pre-med majors) so for arguments sake lets say thats what ill get.
When applying to good, top tier med schools, which would look better a 3.4 at Cornell or a 3.8-4.0 range from Ohio State (or a similar caliber school)?
I am also looking at UVA, UM, Vandy, Emory etc.
Also can anyone with experience give me some insight on just how tough the pre-med majors are at Cornell or some of the other schools ive listed?
Thanks in advance

bump bump bump bump

3.4 is actually not a low GPA. Private schools, particularly the Ivies, are generally grade inflated.

Public universities are grade deflated as well as a small subset of private schools with rigorous coursework (mostly engineering colleges).

i should clarify. i meant that im assuming the average gpa for premed students at cornell is lower than it is for cornell as a whole.

The 3.8-4.0 would definitely look better if that’s what you actually got, but I think you’re under a bit of an illusion of OSU being some ridiculously easy school for you just because you have good stats. If you do pre-med basically anywhere, it’s going to challenge you.
