How do the student bodies at these two schools differ? In terms of general attitudes and what they do for fun? How does the general atmosphere differ? I would be going into engineering in both if that helps your answer.

the student body at stanford is much better… A lot of people go to cornell because they’ve been rejected by other ivies…

?!!? well, cornell does have the highest acceptance rate in the ivies, but its acceptance rate is still pretty low and unpredictable that not that ‘many’ people are able to ‘slip’ in to cornell while getting rejected by other ivies. many people who were good enough to get into cornell were also good enough to get into other top schools. remember, last year’s acceptance rate for cornell was in low 20s. its arts college admit rate was in teens.

but, back to topic, i do know that for cornell students, they usually stay on campus to have fun. my impression is that the students many times interact w/ each other on campus, ranging from going out to parties, going out to eat, sports, watching tv/movies, and others. Yeah, since cornell isn’t in urban area, students usually don’t go out of college area. but, it is an extremely social campus and it is an undergrad-dominant social scene.
