Cornell?

I want to apply to Cornell’s Econ program.

Race: Egyptian-American studying abroad (international student)
GPA: 3.9 UW (my school doesn’t have weighted)
Rank: top 10% (schools ranking system is stupid… People take easy courses get ranked highly.)
SAT: 2160 (math 800, CR 680, W 680)
Haven’t taken SAT 2 yet…

ECs:

President of Debate club
President of the Academics Department
President of the Finance club
Secretary General of MUN 2 times
President of ECOSOC council 3 times
Best delegate award 3 times (one time they were all college students and I was the only highschool student at Cairo International MUN. There were students from Harvard and Columbia.)
1st Place International debate competition (SABIS STARS)
2 time winner Highschool Math Olympiad.
Editor and chief of school newsletter.
Chosen to compete at MSA University science fair.
(Sorry for limited ECs… Egypt doesn’t give me a lot of opportunities)

Summer internship as research assistant at an investment bank.

How do I stack up? Should I apply EA?

Please :frowning:

All the MUNs were nation-wide or international btw

AEM? That’s extremely selective. You have done well, but nothing can guarantee that your chances are higher than the acceptance rate, particularly because your applying for a very competitive major. My advice would have been to do more business rellated ECs bc that’s what most accepted students have in common for AEM. Good luck

I’ve done a hundred economics related Economics ECs… As many as possible in Egypt…

Something else I forgot to mention, my cousin and I are the creators of the ECSR (Egyptian Council of Student Reps). It is an NGONPO that connects students across Egypt to do charity work across the country. We currently have every English speaking school working with us supplying 3 representatives.

Cornell is an ED school, not EA.

Shoot. I was going to apply ED UPenn (I’m a legacy student there)

You will most likely get in

Anyone else?

If you are doing ED Penn, then for RD Cornell…I’d say no, based on the SAT…BUT, your app will be compelling, so maybe. Not sure on Penn bc I’m not sure what they really want!

Advice, pick some ECs that are really important to you, prestigious or time consuming. Your list borders on someone reading it like most of it is fluff or filler.

All of it is extremely time consuming… Which of it exactly is fluff or filler?

Not say it IS filler, but these folks read a lot of these long lists…When you have so much, you may want to group things. The app only allows 10 spaces, so use them wisely. you need to package yourself well without seeming to “sell”, kwim?

This isn’t a long list though… Only the 10 most important things to me… :frowning:

I like the idea of moving leadersip together. Awards together. Then your charty, which is the best one I think. And what about the econ ECs you talked about?
