Is cornell’s actuary program any good? I am trying to get into Cornell, currently have a 29 ACT but am trying to get to a 32, I got a 35 in math. Would you say Cornell’s actuarial science program is good, I live in Canada, and the obvious powerhouse that comes to mind is Waterloo, however, I would like to attend Cornell because I am undecided(just wondering if actuarial sciences is for me), and Cornell has a wide variety of courses, and also has small class sizes. Otherwise I am perfectly happy with Waterloo, but is Cornell’s Actuarial sciences program on par with Waterloo’s?

Preparation for actuarial work in college does not require any specific major, but specific courses are useful.

Cornell has web pages with information on actuarial preparation in both math and statistics departments.

For someone undecided, Cornell seems like a strange choice as transferring between the different Cornell colleges is, I believe, harder than at most private elites.

@PurpleTitan I visited Cornell, and they made it seem as if it was not hard at all, especially if one gets into CoE, switching into arts is easy. However, I am applying to CAS because they have the math and CS program I want, but I don’t have the language requirements, but they did say on a sheet to list any deficiencies in the application, so I am assuming that its fine, and have a good reason for not taking them. When I say I am undecided I have a narrow view of what I want to do. Math+Something Else(its the something else I have trouble with), and even with Math, I am undecided on what type of math, so like actuarial sciences or pure math and what not. I believe Cornell is a fit for me in terms of helping me choose my major, they have over 4000 courses.
