Senior fall semester is important. More often than not, it is the last semester when the adcoms will see your grades before they make their decision. Many EDers will send in their mid semester grades, especially if they are good. It is like when people don’t put their GPA on the resume, I usually assume the worst.

If your fall grades are lackluster and your 9-11 grades are stellar then I wouldn’t bother to send in your mid semester grades, but just be prepared that the adcoms may ask for them if you are borderline. As far as being a sure admit, no one is at Cornell.
