Coronavirus: Has anyone told the Amish what's going on?

With all of the stress and heaviness invading our lives right now, thought that we could use a thread to share the thoughts or moments of levity that are inevitably occurring during all of this chaos. We need to continue to smile, chuckle and indulge in the occasional belly laugh. It’s healthy and necessary. So funny observations of grocery store hoarders are welcome, as are any activities you are purposefully engaging in to inject some lightness into your heart.

For example, in our house, the US version of The Office is revered. As a family, we will be listening to episodes of The Office Ladies podcast, where two of the actors summarize episodes of the TV series and provide anecdotes and behind the scenes memories, and then immediately watch the TV episode armed with many new things to watch for and additional context around the scenes and story. A good distraction, consumes time, and raises our collective spirits.

Fight the good fight y’all. Here’s to staying positive and testing negative. Cheers!

Wow…even the water softener thread garnered more responses. If in an attempt to inject some levity and maintain a sense of humor I somehow offended, it was unintentional. We are still trying to smile, laugh and look toward the light at the end of this sucky tunnel at our house. Hope you all are able to do the same.

Be well.

I like the sound of the podcast. I’ll have to look it up! (makes not to self). I actually thought about starting a ‘joke of the day’ threat or something, so this is similar to what I had in mind (I think the threat title didn’t make that apparent to me). I missed the water softener thread but lol about that getting more responses. I don’t know if I have anything funny to share right at the moment but I’ll take up your thread as a challenge to me to at least try to be finding the funny things. Good idea!

I am cracking up…
I don’t have anything to add at this moment but love the title of this thread.
Very funny ?
I needed that today… Thx.

Well we laughed a lot this week when a couple we know very well suggested a happy hour by phone. They opened wine at their house, we did same here (my husband seemed to think it was critical that they hear our cork being removed). We talked about the current serious concerns of the worlds, but when we wandered back to serious topics we’d usually try to find our way back to fun topics. It felt good to laugh!

We learned through a round of charades with our kids (19 and 12), that our eldest son does a scary accurate impression of Mitch McConnell. 12 yr old had no idea, but Dh and I were losing it!

Just to let y’all know … the Amish have been told! A little over a week ago, I had an Amish cabinetmaker in my home to give me an estimate for some work. He was well aware & practiced distancing while touching as little surface as possible! (P.S., I can no longer afford to hire him, given the current economic state of affairs. And I did tell him that, as well.)

My favorite joke so far is about the New Englander who is told about social distancing. “Six feet? I have to get that close to somebody else?!?” ?

Well thank you I laughed out loud when I read this thread , I work with Mennonites and they are aware but really think it is much ado about nothing. Thank you for the laugh it was very much needed.
