Health insurance companies will pay for the virus testing and related items for no costs to patients.
Tests but not the visit or subsequent treatment if needed.

Pence says he doesnât know if Trump has been tested for coronavirus
From CNNâs Maegan Vazquez
Vice President Mike Pence told reporters on Monday that he does not know whether President Trump had been tested for the coronavirus, even though Trump has been in contact with individuals who have been in close proximity to people diagnosed with the virus.
âLet me be sure to get you the answer to that. I really donât know the answer to the question, but weâll refer that question and we will get you an answer from the White House physician very quickly,â Pence said.
Pence said that he has not been tested for coronavirus.
Trump was also asked the same question, but he didnât answer as he left the White House press briefing room.
Trump administration to propose payroll tax cut and hourly wage relief
From CNN
President Donald Trump said that members of his administrationâs coronavirus task force would be meeting with Congress to discuss a payroll tax cut relief and relief for hourly workers.
âWe are going to be asking tomorrow, weâre seeing the Senate. Weâre going to be meeting with House Republicans, Mitch McConnell, everybody discussing a possible payroll tax cut or relief, substantial relief,â Trump told reporters at a briefing Monday.
âWeâre also going to be talking about hourly wage earners getting help so that they can be in a position where theyâre not going to ever miss a paycheck,â he added.
Trump added that he is working with leaders in the cruise ship and airline industry âvery stronglyâ for potential relief from coronavirus-related losses.
âWe want people to travel to certain locations and not to other locations at this moment,â he said. âWeâre working with the industries.â
Trump also said the administration is in communication with the hotel industry, saying that âsome places actually will do very well,â but others may not.
Unless I misheard him, the Surgeon General told young people (so presumably people in their teens since I doubt most 5 year olds are listening) that the flu is much more deadly than COVID.
This isnât true. Best estimate right now is .2% for COVID vs .1% for flu (for 10-19 year olds). Yes, youâre still more likely to die from the flu because of sheer numbers but that isnât what he said.
Someone please correct me if I misheard.
@inflorescent I believe the person in my town was older (40s-50s) and attended the Biogen Conference, which is where they contracted it.
Per CNN, that is exactly what he said.
@romanigypsyeyes â people donât get stats, alas. Or they miss the decimal. We need to message that COVID death rate is likely somewhere between 1 and 3 out of 100 (we donât really know yet) compared to the flu which has a death rate of about 1 out of a 1000 (varies by season). Thatâs why this is so much more dangerous than the flu.
The more we flatten the infection curve the better our health care systems will be able to handle cases, hopefully bringing down the death rate. Conversely, the less we mitigate through reduced travel and contacts, the more deaths will go up b/c of shortages of beds, respirators, healthy health care workers, etc.
Any message from the Trump administration that tries to make this seem less serious than the flu is malpractice to the Nth degree, plain and simple, and puts all of us at greater risk.
I admire all the public health professionals and health care workers working tirelessly and planning for what lies ahead.
PS â Wash your hands, like a lot. All the time.
Just learned that a friend who is living in Northern Italy with her family for the year has tested positive. Her husband and two boys have moved into a hotel.
Whatâs the death rate for people in their teens and 20âs? Much lower than the overall death rate from what I understand.
@TheBigChef - about 0.2% from our current numbers.
@TheBigChef â yes, much lower. This also means young people can be significant carriers. They have mild symptoms so are out and about infecting others who are much more vulnerable. We need to realize weâre all in this together. That said, I take solace that I donât have to worry about my teenage kids so much. Imagine if this struck kids or young adults the most. TerrifyingâŠ
.
They were talking pediatric deaths. How many kids died worldwide from Covid? So far, there are 136 pediatric flu deaths in the US alone (data for up to week of Feb 29).
The highest death rates are among those who are older and whose who have cardiac and lung conditions, but regardless the death rates of all people who get this virus are significantly higher than âregularâ influenza, particularly for folks vaccinated.
Ok so I did mishear - thank you guys.
Hereâs a link to death rates by age gathered from the tens of thousands of Chinese cases. No deaths under 9 years of age. 10-19 it is .2%

Novel coronavirus symptoms usually take 5 days to appear, study says
From CNN
People infected by novel coronavirus tend to develop symptoms about five days after exposure, and almost always within two weeks, according to a study released Monday in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine.
That incubation period is consistent with previous estimates from public health officials, and the findings suggest that 14 days of quarantine are appropriate for people potentially exposed to the coronavirus.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has used that standard during the current pandemic â recommending, for example, that people self-quarantine for two weeks after traveling to countries with widespread coronavirus transmission, such as Italy or South Korea.
To estimate the incubation period, researchers scoured more than 180 reports of coronavirus in places without widespread transmission of the virus â areas, in other words, where infection was likely due to outside travel.
Because the study was conducted early in the coronavirus epidemic, community transmission at the time was limited to Wuhan, China. That allowed researchers to estimate the âtime of exposureâ to the coronavirus by determining when a person was in Wuhan â the only plausible source of infection. By comparing travel to Wuhan with the emergence of symptoms, researchers could then estimate an incubation period for the virus: usually about five days, and rarely more than 12.
Itâs possible, the researchers said, that their study may have focused on more severe cases of the virus â which are likelier to make the news and catch the attention of public health officials. The incubation for mild cases, then, might differ somewhat.
So Mr R caught the virus from one of the families he works for - who have canceled sessions for at least the week.
Who also just came from⊠just outside Cleveland! Where they have at least 3 known cases.
Do I think he has COVID? Nope, still no. But THIS is why we need widespread testing. Testing just people who have been in contact with people from Italy, China, etc is not enough.
I might be headed to the hospital soon because the coughing is making it hard to breath. Kid is already up in my lungs so I was having some breathing difficulties before this.
