For produce bags, I wear very lightweight driving gloves anyway and use the friction of their surface to open the bags. My supermarket also sells reusable produce bags, and I have some. Will stick (get it?) with those for the time being.
I’m trembling to suppress my laughter at work!!
I don’t lick my bag, but I used to touch the vegetable that had just been sprayed with water to wet my fingers. I’m not sure that’s a good idea anymore.
Aw crap, I’ve started coughing. I’m afraid to check my temp lol. (ETA: no fever!)
Michigan universities are on spring break this week and last. MSU and U of M at least are telling people to self-quarantine from X countries - preferably at home. Word of mouth has it that instructors at U of M will face possible disciplinary action if we punish students for not coming to class when they’re on quarantine. I haven’t seen anything in writing about that but I support it if true.
My company is in a race to have the vaccine developed. We have a COVID task force that meets daily on the progress. Apparently we are behind another company in the race. The words are that this vaccine is relatively easy to develop because we know how to make the flu vaccine. My guess is that the process of clinical trial and testing and FDA approval will take a lot longer than the actual development of the vaccine.
@Octagon , somewhere on this board someone posted a list of what products the CDC had determined would kill the virus. Many of the items listed were Clorox products. There were also Purell Professional wipes listed. (Many of the products did have “professional” in the name, I’m sure they are geared towards the commercial cleaning market). My takeaway was Clorox wipes or Purell Professional. (WetOnes, which is what we have, was not listed).
Received an email from Delta that said something about distributing hygiene packs. My kids are all traveling for spring break so we’ve been talking about having wipes for the plane ride, including wiping their ID and phone.
I never sanitize the shopping cart handle. I figure that everything in the store came from a filthy warehouse or truck, so the most efficient thing to do is to sanitize myself and my food with rigorous washing of hands, cans, etc.
Buy some reusable produce bags - save the planet and don’t spread germs. They can be washed in your washing machine.
I posted that list. It’s in here somewhere. Clorox and Lysol brands were the two widely available names with many products of each brand listed.
Someone also posted the best nasal drip OTC medicine and I can’t find it. Does anyone remember? I have a cold 2 months ago and i still could feel the nasal drip that makes me cough once in a while. For this reason I have been working from home for weeks now but my soul is crushing it is screaming to socialize with other humans.
Here’s a link for saline nasal wash.
Thanks @HImom
So here’s a random one I wasn’t expecting - some hair donation places are not accepting hair donations because of the virus.
I grow my hair out and donate every other year, usually to Wigs 4 Kids. Mr R is doing the same thing right now. Turns out theyre not accepting donations for at least 3-4 months because of COVID.
Others still are - like Children With Hair Loss.
Oh geez. That is ridiculous!
Huh? Is hair a carrier for COVID19? Isn’t hair washed with folks wearing gloves? I don’t get it. Guess it’s just one more complication folks don’t want to deal with currently.
Agree. Ridiculous! So people can get a haircut but hair may not be donated? We might as well ban anything that has a surface. Cause the virus lives for N hours on surfaces!
Yes I think this is an over reaction. Here’s the message:
I don’t know how long that message has been up - it’s possible it went up a month or so ago before we really knew the transmission routes. And considering these will largely go to kids with compromised immune systems, I can see the logic - even if I do think it’s an over-reaction.
We got a save the date for my nieces wedding last year - wedding is scheduled for May. Likely postponed now until at least August so his family can attend from China.
We are supposed to go to a wedding in June…half the guests are traveling from India. Wondering how that will end up.
Had lunch with a friend…her daughter is having her first communion, and they have ordered several dresses…but all are coming via China. She isn’t optimistic.
Wondering about wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses too.
My niece’s wedding is September and for now i plan to go. The wedding isn’t in China but pretty close.
