Third case in Wisconsin, second in Dane County (home to Madison, the capital city), announced this morning. The person with the diagnosis had traveled outside Wisconsin but not outside the United States.
^^ saw the exact same at my Costco today. No TP tons of water out of lysol wipes.
What I noticed for the first time ever - the amount of touching from the face that is going on.
One person was picking up something heavy, put her grocery list in her mouth, then took it out and opened a case door. Another person couldn’t open a thin plastic sack, so wet her fingers with her mouth, opened it - and then went on to push her cart. That was in a course of two minutes. I can certainly see how things can spread easily.
This is only to the affected international countries – right? Or are they waiving fees to all tickets (international & within US)
All tickets.
In Central CT. School districts where I live and another where I work sent an email saying that the health dept/governor’s office has recommended canceling all events with 100 or more people. Field trips, performances, and some athletic tournaments are being postponed or cancelled altogether now. I have no idea what to expect. Currently hoping school is not cancelled, since I have no desire to be teaching in an un-airconditioned building through late June…
Went to Target. I was getting tomato soup and cheese to make grilled cheese and tomato soup. But noticed…not many wipes left. And no hand sanitizer (but that’s everywhere). Plenty of TP.
They also had signs up saying they were limiting the number of hand sanitizers you could buy…and wipes too.
https://money.com/coronavirus-airline-fees-flights/ is a recent list of airline flight change policies.
Local (northern New England) Rite-Aid had almost a dozen bags of Cold-Eeze lozenges plus jars of gummi versions.
I heard on NPR that CVS is waiving home-delivery fees for prescription medications and urging people in high-risk groups to stay at home and not venture to the stores to pick up prescriptions. Aetna, which now owns (or is owned by) CVS, is allowing people with its insurance to get three months’ worth of prescription medications. I hope other insurers will follow suit.
This is how the virus spreads. The train happens to stop where a state university is located. https://www.riverbender.com/articles/details/college-student-who-studied-in-italy-is-first-st-louis-area-state-of-missouri-person-diagnosed-with-coronavirus-is-currently-in-quarantine-40392.cfm

Went to Shop Rite today. TP available and more being added to shelves as I watched. I think water was available–I was just looking for distilled for my H’s CPAP machine, and got it. Loads of Lysol and wipes available. Also being restocked as I watched.
Also got word I will be teaching online for the rest of the semester. Time to get up to speed, fast!
My kids are 30 and 27. I’ve found myself sending care packages over the last couple weeks. Older one is in a large city not too far away, but they’ve had confirmed cases in the area. Younger one is in the Midwest to our Northeast. As I think it was @rosered55 said, looks like we won’t be visiting in person for the foreseeable future so I’m compensating.
What happened to the pinned tweet from the San Diego doctor with recommendations? Does anyone have a link for that?
Went to Home Depot yesterday and they had pallets full of toilet paper and cleaning supplies. Hoping for more hoarding I guess.
So we have not hoarded anything… Yet ?.
So I have been in the Detroit suburbs and Chicago and Suburbs the last few days. Complete aisles of stuff just wiped out at, Meyers, CVS, Walgreens and Target.
Now I feel the pressure to buy large quantities of stuff since everyone else is stocking up on my stuff!
What are these people going to do when this is over in a few months? Guess long return lines… Lol.

I saw my doctor today for a routine appt & asked about coronavirus since we were planning a car trip to visit S, DIL and grandkids this weekend. S was on a business trip to CA last week. DH and I are in our mid-60s, relatively healthy, but her advice was to stay home. She was most concerned about what could happen if one of us got the virus. She admitted we’d feel stupid if we would’ve been OK, but even more stupid if one of us got sick.
Not sure what we’ll do. I told dr that DH would not be happy with her advice. We already postponed the trip when my mother died 3 weeks ago, and DH doesn’t want to postpone it again.

DW said along with TP, water, and other items mentioned in this thread today, she saw people stocking up on charcoal. Maybe at Costco (didn’t realize they sold it). Made me momentarily think whether I should get another propane tank for the grill. The psychology of panic buying. But along with water, I very much doubt that we will have power or gas outages in the US, even under the scenario where a good chunk of the country is under quarantine.
I was just in line at the grocery store, trapped between other customers, and this woman started to cough. I had to move ahead and pictured a cloud of droplets in the air where I now stood. Not thinking it’s Covid19 but in general just feel a lot more aware these days.
Stores are all out of sanitizers, hand sanitizers, rubbing alcohol etc. etc. I wasn’t even looking to buy yet but when I want to, I won’t be able to. Kind of strange to see all those empty shelves.

My drugstore was almost completely out of tampons. Come on, ladies. How many boxes do you need?!
Hopefully that was just a stocking issue but it made me LOL in the store.
