I’m wondering if there’s a correlation between math iic and chem SAT scores. Could anyone who took both tests post their scores? Thanks a lot.

chem - 720
math ii - 710

chem - 750
math IIc - 760

chem - 800
math IIC - 790

That’s an interesting trend.

keep the data coming

SAT M-800
Math IIC-800
Chem-710

So the correlation isn’t as strong in my case… I blame it on my crappy chem teacher. Her class was really the pits.

The two subjects don’t overlap too much though. Maybe some simple algebra for chem but that’s about it and math iic is far from simple algebra. But, there would be a correlation because of the student probably.

IIC - 780
Chem - 780

IIc - 800
Chem-800
SAT I Math - 800

SAT I M 800
SAT II IIC 800
Chemistry 740

Hamster- I have the same excuse. Plus there is too much random stuff to memorize on the test.
mathwiz, the correlation is the type that a third factor causes these two results. A and B occur because C is present.

math iic 800
chem 780
best sat1 math 780

670 SAT I Math
800 SAT II Chem

outlier, probably. math in chem is very straightforward. i think what it is is that there might be a correlation, but no causation.

Chem–730
Math II–800

chem-800
math ii-800
math i-800

Chem - 800
Math IIC - 800
Physics - 800
I see a stronger correlation between IIC and physics, but not that many people take the Physics SAT II.

2c-760
chem-750

The data so far shows no correlation. r = -0.0437

well, actually, there are nine cases of chem scores being within 10 points of math scores.

i understand that the math in chem is pretty straightforward, but i want to see if people who do well at math also do well at chem.

The correlation in statistical jargon is called common response. The underlying variable that produces a common response between chem and math scores is most likely math/logical ability.
