Cosmology Ranking Question

I was recently accepted into University of Pittsburgh (undergraduate), which I’m thrilled with and can’t wait to get a start at. However, I’ve noticed that they generally aren’t listed as a top 20 Cosmology program. I have also noticed that other somewhat local schools (Penn State, Rutgers New Bunswick, and, of course, the Ivies) do place in the top 20 for physics and/or cosmology.

So, my question is: If I’m in a top 30-50 Cosmology program, how much of a disadvantage am I at if I apply to grad school in the field, in comparison to those in top 10-20 programs? Is it worth considering a transfer? Otherwise I expect to be entirely happy.

If you dig into this forum, you’ll discover scores of threads about this. If you do well in your courses, get involved in extracurricular and summer research, and develop working relationships with your professors, you’ll be fine.

Sounds promising. Thanks.
