COSMOS 2016 Grades/Transcripts

Hello! I was wondering how COSMOS looks at transcripts. I attend a very competitive high school, and I ended up taking very rigorous classes in my freshman year. I was unable to receive A’s in the classes because I lost focus of who I wanted to be and what I wanted for my future. I was wondering if COSMOS looked at just the sophomore and junior GPA, the weighted GPA, or non weighted overall. If I wrote an outstanding essay, what would the chances be for me attending the UC Irvine Biomedical Cluster or the Genes/Genomes cluster?

The classes that I took were:
Freshman Year - Algebra 2 Honors ©, World History Honors (A) , NJROTC (A) , Computer Science (B), Japanese 1 (A), English I Honors (B), Biology Honors (B)
Sophomore Year (1st Semester) - Precalculus Regular (B), NJROTC (A), Media (A), Japanese 2 (A), AP English Language and Composition (A), Chemistry Honors (B), AP European History (B)

Also, I was wondering if NJROTC is counted as an academic program?

It could be possible, but I believe it will be significantly harder. Since GPA does play a factor, and most students have a GPA higher than 3.5, it could be definitely possible. I believe that those admitted students with GPAs below 3.5 probably did something AMAZING like qualify for USAMO or founded an academic non-profit organization that helps hundreds-thousands of people. I don’t think NJROTC is considered an academic program, it seems more as a physical program.
