I got into Cosmos UCLA Cluster4: Hydrogen Is Green Headway to SUstainability, Carbon Capture, Energy-transition, and Sustainability. Should I go to Cosmos or go to UF SSTP? Both are research programs, but UF SSTP is longer.
Urgent need for an answer! Decisions are due in 10 days!
There is another cosmos thread where you might want to post this. Cosmos 2024
I’m not familiar with the Florida program or how selective it is, what it offers, cost differences, etc. Others may have more insights. Cosmos was great for my kid. Is there one that appeals more to you or you would rather be on one campus than the other for much of the summer? What are your college goals?
For one thing, I live in LA, so I do not have to fly to Cosmos like I would do for the Florida program. The Florida program is a 7-week research program compared to the 4-week Cosmos research program. The cost is relatively the same, with a 200-dollar cost difference. My goal is to get into Carnegie Mellon, so going to one program or another would not affect my chance of getting into one of them (UCLA of UF). I want to know which one would give a bigger boost on the college apps as well as which I could benefit more from.
Have you seen this report? Note page 13/15 on stats where cosmos alumni end up. If you were my kid, I would recommend you go to Cosmos and with the 4 extra weeks of summer you gain, have some FUN and maybe add some volunteer hours or whatever extra curriculars you do. Don’t forget the fun part!
