Cost / merit/need based aid estimator for WashU ?

Is there a someplace online that estimates the cost and merit / need based aid for Wash U ?

Total cost is about 53,000 a year. Basically, take your EFC (Estimated Family Contribution which is calculated by fafsa or CSS-Profile) and subtract that from 53,000. The difference will most likely be covered by WashU. This is for estimating need-based aid. You can’t estimate merit-based aid because the scholarship process at Wash U is very competitive.

I am a student, so don’t take this as if it came from a financial aid counselor. This is just what I have observed. If you want to know more specifics, call the financial aid office; they’re very nice people.

what I was asking for is a cost / fa (need based) calculator for MY situation before application. Yes, I know the COA is 53k. This is the calc tool that the feds are mandating to be in place by next yr. Some colleges already have such a tool before the mandate.

But you gave me important info about merit scholarships are doled at WashU - nt thru a stdardized matrix but thru other means…if you by now, we’ll give you the presidential …

I’m confused, and this is probably going to be a silly question, but musical, are you saying that WashU will pay the difference after subtracting an applicants EFC from the $53,000 per year total cost for ALL applicants? Or who qualifies for this?

I am a student as well, and I can back up musical that most people are given some sort of financial aid. Of course, there are also people who have enough money to pay for WashU without aid, but the rest get it in one form or another. Not everyone gets grants (money you don’t have to pay back), I myself have a mixture of loans and Work Study, but then again my need based aid is not very large.
