Okay, so exactly how much does it cost to attend washu for the 2009-2010 school year? I’m getting confusing answers?

According to the financial aid thing they sent me…officially it is
37,800 for tutition
$6000-$9500 for room and board
Around $4000 for Meal plans

From the WashU website: [Undergraduate Charges](http://admissions.wustl.edu/FinancialAssistance/Pages/charges.aspx)

Please don’t hesitate to apply based on our printed costs. If you don’t apply you won’t have the chance to see how we can help you.

When we admit a student, we do all we can financially to help him or her attend.

Tuition: $37,800
Student Activity Fee: $378
Student Health Fee: $686
Average University Room and Board*: $12,060
Total Charges (including room and board): $50,924
Rates for room and board depend on the room and meal plan you select. The rate shown is for a double room in a traditional residence hall and the Meals Plus meal plan. Freshmen live on campus.

Word of advice:

GET THE SMALLEST MEAL PLAN POSSIBLE.

(even if you have to buy more meal points, the price at which you buy them will be cheaper since you’ll buy them for $1 per point as opposed to more than that with the meal plan)
And unless you’re a football player, it’s unlikely that you’ll overspend on the square deal (smallest freshmen can get) anyway. I have something like 200 extra meal points right now and and trying to spend a ridiculous amount so that it doesn’t go to waste at the end of the year.

^ It seems like everyone in college suggests getting the smallest meal plan. Even people I know from Cornell and other places. That’s the one thing they keep telling me. Haha, and I’m like…well, right now I’d rather know more about admissions than the meal plan since that won’t matter if I don’t get in (just a junior).

How many meals do you actually eat in WashU each day? Or do people go out to eat a lot?

of meals depends on my mood- sorry thats not so helpful. I can have one day where I’ll get a bagel before class, eat lunch, dinner, and get a late night meal around 11 pm as well.

Or I could have days when I have really light lunches and dinners, and that’s it.
I also tend to store a lot of food in my room, lik cereal, ramen noodles, eggos, etc.

As for going out to eat, I go maybe once or twice a month. However, I know people who literally go out 5 times a week (which is a bit absurd in my opinion, but to each his own).
