We were in NH and VT earlier this month and saw the maple pecan cake. We figured it must be a local item since we had never seen it at home. We also assumed that the Stonewall Kitchen apple cider jam was a local item. When we arrived home, both items were at our local Costco in Los Angeles!
Dang just returned from Costco and did not see that maple pecan treasure!
For some reason everyone was buying oodles of the pre-made mac and cheese tonight! Saw a few carts with several containers! Is it that good?
It did prompt me to make homemade Mac and cheese tonight
I just got home from lunch with a social worker friend, then a cheap supermarket, then bus to Costco, then subway to a station with an elevator, then a bus home, and my handy dandy red cart (see Trader Joe’s thread) was really full by the time I took the elevator in my building to my apartment.
When I got off the bus a couple of blocks downhill to Costco, I was across the street from the Jackie Gleason NYC Transit garage, as in the Honeymooners.
Let me see if I can find the New Yorker cartoon illustrating the parking lot at Brooklyn’s Costco. Oy! Actually much easier to take the train/bus.
I might go during the Dodger game tonight. It should be empty!
It is in the refrigerated bakery section. Looks like the tiramisu.
We just cut it up like brownies and put
it onto pieces of parchment paper or cupcake holders. Everyone is happy to get a piece and doesn’t much care about the shape of the piece.
I then transport it in a costco cardboard box and can leave it without worry about getting it back.
The Maple cake lived up to all my expectations! I’m hoping this is around for Thanksgiving.
I blew right past the pumpkin spice/maple/candy corn for Halloween stuff and went right to the peppermint mocha Starbucks coffee this week.
Not like I can’t double back for the thanksgiving stuff…
We ended up serving long, skinny Sam’s pie slices… on dinner plates.
I had been meaning to purchase some biscuit cutters anyway so did and now will at some point get a pie and then try cutting the rounds of pie and serve like that with whipped cream.
Let’s see if this posts correctly. Fun time lapse video!
Even though I love the pumpkin pies more at Costco, it’s a complete zoo during Thanksgiving…Ugh! This year, I think I’ll opt for Sam’s Club.
I keep trying to persuade our local Costco that we need a drive-through pie stand the night before Thanksgiving.
They absolutely need to!
This is pure insanity!!!

That’s why I have a Sam’s Club membership. Seriously…it’s not worth camping out to buy Kirkland Signature laundry detergent.
They were camping out for a specific bourbon and other hard to get alcohol.
We just had the Costco apple pie over Thanksgiving- absolutely delicious!
For whiskey? Sheesh! How good does it have to be to camp out for booze?
