Costco prices online versus in store

I am about to buy a camera and am wondering whether I need to make a trip to Costco or whether the online prices are as good as or better than I would find in the store. I know online has a better selection but might in store have a better price?

When I shopped for cameras, I found totally different products on-line and at the store.

I found a computer hard drive online that was bigger than available in the store. I paid $130. A month or so later the hard drive appeared in the store at $160. I would check both online and store prices. I bet the online prices are better.

I don’t know if it always works one way or the other. I do know that I got my GPS via Costco online because - why else? - someone here on cc had posted that it was an online Hot Buy. These only last a short time until sell out, and it was not available at that price in store.

I didn’t even know about Hot Buys until finding out here on cc. (I guess that explains why I’m still here after DS graduated college 2 years ago, lol - that’s my story and I’m sticking to it).

My siblings and I bought my mom a camera for this last Christmas. I found the selection better on-line, but the prices were better in the store - they were running specials in store on cameras not available on-line. I was looking at point and shoot digital cameras.

I’m not sure they have specials going on now.

Online carries more/different items than the store, so best to check both the store and online. If you see the same item in the store and online, check the price carefully; the online price many times included the shipping and handling in the total price. That sometimes is why the online seems to be more.

Keep your receipt wherever you buy as camera prices tend to drop. You might buy it tomorrow and find in a month the price has gone down. I just take the item back, return it and re buy it. My Costco will not just refund the difference, they want you to return the item, even if it is use, and re buy it. I tried to tell them I didn’t want to return the item, but was told if I wanted the new price I had to, so that is what I did. I then when over and got a new one at the cheaper price.
