I want to major in accounting. As an accountant, I would not have to be as assertive and outgoing as many other business majors, but I know that in most of my non-accounting classes, I will be expected to act like the other business majors. I am not talkative at all and I do not do well in discussion-bases classes that require participation. Can I make it in the Kelley School of Business, or am I screwed?

Yes, you will survive! My daughter is a quiet accounting major and she has done well. You should know that one of the first classes you will be required to take is a business presentations class - a Kelly prereq. It’s a lot of speaking in front of the professor and class. It may sound scary, but it’s quite beneficial and really helped my daughter to be comfortable with public speaking.

Although it was now many years ago, one of the most beneficial parts of business school was forcing me to do presentations in front of others. I still don’t like to do them, but practice does help.
Regarding original question, I think you would do fine. You might have to open up in some situations, but you don’t have to become super assertive or anything.
