<p>I come from a large, rural public school in Texas. We literally have one of the lowest school-morales in the nation. At our last pep rally attempt, we all sat down and refused to sing our fight song. From freshman to sophomore year, our school implemented a very akward, unpopular dress code, which nobody save the school board and super-intendent supported. A few other community members and I worked very hard to stop it, as well as some other misguided policies. We actually made the front page of our local newspaper; the first line of the article was “Hundreds of parents and students voiced their opposition Tuesday night to the … dress code.” However, the district still passed the dress code with virtually no support. In fact, the community has been systematically firing school board members who voted for the dress code at every election since. My essay would focus on the role I played in fighting the dress code (and other policies since), what I learned from that, and how through my school’s yearbook (my primary EC), we have used “passive resistance” to show what the student body thinks i.e. my sophomore year, the title was Express Yourself in opposition to the dress code, and junior year it was “My Voice”, mocking how our school pretends to care about our thoughts and well-being. This year, it is simply titled Revolution.</p>
<p>Sorry that was so long, but thanks for reading! Would that make a good essay?</p>
