<p>I currently go to a community college out of state and plan on transferring to UTA next fall, but I talked to a transfer counselor at my school and she said I can be auto rejected because of my transitional math class. Is this possible? I’m freaking out about it because I REALLY want to get itno this school! Does anyone know is UTA does this?</p>
<p>What do you mean by transitional math class? Do you mean a remedial math class, i.e. algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, etc?</p>
<p>If so, not necessarily. Although it would certainly look better if you’ve already completed a college level math course prior to transferring. You could always call admissions at UTA and ask them. </p>
<p>Yes, remedial I guess is what you could call it. I’m at the lowest of the low because I bombed the placement exam (because there were questions on there at elementary/middle school level that I couldn’t remember for the life of me), it’s pretty much as basic as you can get.</p>
<p>It would be ideal to get caught up as soon as possible. It’s possible that UTA doesn’t even offer the remedial courses that you’d need to get up to speed and be prepared for college math. I assume you’re in a pre-algebra class. If you take algebra 1 next semester, and algebra 2 over the summer, that would put you in a position to at least be ready for a college math course. Many schools will require geometry prior to placement in college algebra or trig though. </p>
<p>Another option. Try to self study the algebra and place into a higher course. If these are all courses that you’ve taken previously in high school, it’s quite possible that you’ll start remembering the material as you go over it. </p>
