Go to the Chances forum

By looking at your grades, ssats, and extracurriculars, I would say that you have a pretty good start. Good luck!

@girlslovedogs: Welcome to the forum…you just missed the “fun” of the March 10th notification date.

A few threads that may be worth reading:

A blow-by-blow of my older daughter’s search/apply/matric story:

Some stats vs. results for the most recent application cycle:

I’ll say this: my older daughter was a 99% SSAT scorer, honor-roller, singer, and XC runner. And while she was admitted to 2 relatively selective schools, she was also flat out rejected by another. Look a the “Official Master List of 2014 Prep School Decisions” thread and you’ll see that kids could get accepted by one or more very selective schools and then get W/L at others…perhaps even some that are less selective. It’s a crapshoot in many ways.

Best of luck and use the forum as a (but not your only) resource when doing research.

This is a Chances-esque thread. However, while you’re here, you seem like a good base candidate. What I mean by that is you have good enough SSATs, good grades, a few sports, and a dedicated EC; you’re something the schools would look for as a start. What your decision hinges on now is interviews, essays, FP/FA, and, unfortunately, what the school needs. Sometimes the school needs a runner or a singer, sometimes they won’t. I wish you the best of luck in this tough endeavor. And, also, do use this forum- it’s great for real opinions, funny banter, and important support. But don’t put too much emphasis on what people say about a specific school, particularly the negatives- schools have different grades, years, make-ups, etc. and you need to focus on you and your needs.
