<p>I’m an upcoming junior and I have a GPA of 99% (my report card doesn’t have it on a 4-point scale…) and am seventh in my class. I’ve taken all possible Honors and AP classes and next year I’m taking out my language class to take two sciences (AP Bio and Pre-AP Chem).
I play the oboe and I’m the section leader. I’m in concert band, marching band, wind ensemble, county band, district band and regional band. As for clubs, I’m in Paranormal Club, Outdoor Club, Latin Club, FBLA, and my friend and I are starting a global culture club and will also be in a global culture quiz bowl. I’ve been working since I was thirteen and I’m going to be volunteering at a local hospital this summer.
I’m also (most likely) going to be in NHS, and, if I get the scholarship, I’ll be an exchange student for a semester in Russia.
I haven’t taken the SAT’s yet, but I’ve been studying for them a lot and, using an average of my practice test scores, I should get somewhere between 2000 and 2200.</p>
<p>Also, my dream college is Cornell. Haha I’ve been stalking that uni on youtube since the beginning of my freshman year…</p>
<p>Everything looks in order. I would try to get above a 2200 on the SAT and take two subject tests, but you have a lot of time. I would suggest looking at the results threads on this site to get a better idea of who top colleges admit.</p>
<p>*Note-Amongst the Ivies, there are different difficulties in getting in. Some are hard to get into while others are REALLY hard to get into. Whichever you choose, it’s hard to get in!</p>
<p>GPA-wise and ranking wise, you’re in the running for the Ivies! Without actual test scores, it’s hard to say but your SAT score should be higher than what you’ve been getting on the practice tests if you want to have a decent chance. Although test scores aren’t everything.</p>
<p>In today’s world, there are tens of thousands of appicants with stellar scores and high school records. One thing that sets one apart from others is extra-curriculars. Your extra-curriculars don’t stand out to be honest. In music (since that was one of my strong points) for example, to stand out you should be at All-State level or be a prizewinner in a prestigious competition. Local solo-ensemble festivals won’t even be that impressive.</p>

<p>What do you want to major in? From your EC’s, one can’t really tell that you have a certain passion for something. Making your EC’s stand out and show passion/focus will be super important.</p>
