I have started my college apps and I applied to Yale early decision knowing that my chances to get into this school were slim. I did it to please my mom ,but I really would love to get into this school. I just want to know if I have a slight chance. My grades are lacking because I am in one of the top IB schools in the country and I work a full time job being a manager at chic fil a so I am very worried. Here are some stats about me.
gpa- 3.7
act- 28 (english) 27 (math) 34 (reading) 34 (science) 11 (writing portion)
IB psych score- 5
AP lang and AP psych- 4
extracurriculars- manager of a chic fil, Secretary General of the Alabama Junior United Nations Assembly, Future problem solvers (won state twice), student council committee chair, volunteer work at a water filtration plant
the thing I am most proud of is my science fair project, I have done a project for the past four years. This project has won the alabama state science fair, the stockholm junior water prize, toyota award for best in show, Alabama association of engineers best in category, Bowing best in category, Tennessee Valley authority award for an outstanding project, and an award from the women’s society of geoscience.
I really hope all this is enough to get me a shot into yale. I know my grades may be lacking.
Nobody can guess, because it will probably come down to essays and recs, and we won’t (and shouldn’t) read those. To answer the title question, yes you could possibly get in. Good luck.
I am sure that you will be happy and engaged wherever you attend.
Your gpa and test scores make getting into Yale unlikely but I guess you will always wonder if you don’t give it a shot. Good luck, I hope you’re one of the fortunate ones that get accepted. Congrats on your science fair project successes.
