Could I still get into a good school?

Freshman and Sophomore year I did okay, A’s and B’s, one C in a math class. I made a 95 on the math exam though. My grandpa committed suicide at the beginning of my freshman year. I got really depressed when that happened and I just sort of stopped trying at all. I coasted through classes without studying or doing homework. I did take honors classes though. I realized at the end of sophomore year my grandfather would have wanted me to apply myself. So I decided to take 2 AP courses, and 3 honors courses next year. My school doesn’t even offer anything more than that or I would take it. I also didn’t do many extra-curricular activities. My dad owns a business and he forces me to work there after school and all summer, so I don’t really have time for extra things. Can I still get into a good college if I work harder these next two years, and do well on my SAT and ACT?

Yes, you will go to college. Sorry to hear that. Always do your best and work hard. Not sure what’s your GPA. The SAT and ACT score will depend on the schools you will like to apply. Also you can write that on the common app about how the lost of a family member affected you. I wish you the best of luck!

My weighted GPA right now is right around 3.95, without much effort. Next year I plan to get it above 4.0 though.

What’s your UW?

3.7 I think.

Keep working on your GPA. Try to look for the schools you will apply and see which SAT/ACT score you will need.
