Hi! so I applied to Yale REA, I was confident in my application, my essays, stats, ecs were all relatively solid, and my teachers offered to write my recommendations without me even having to ask, so I think they were probably good! not like I was an admit, but I thought I may have a small chance.
I got rejected anyways! it’s okay, I wasn’t too sad about it - but the day before, I had asked my counselor to send a copy of my transcript, because I just wanted to be aware of how my application was looking. turns out there were many errors!
- first, he neglected to put in the grades of a couple of classes in my freshmen and sophomore year.
- second, he didn’t update my final grades for my junior year (only from the penultimate progress check?).
- third, some inputted grades were straight up wrong - for example, I earned A’s in AP Bio and AP Chem, but they were inputted as a B and a C - keep in mind, biochem is my major..
so my gpa from those numbers is a 3.4, but when my correct stats are put in, my gpa is a 3.8! and the difference between a 3.4 and 3.8 are NOT trivial (0.4 point difference).
I know Yale has a no appeals policy, but I had no way of seeing or correcting this before submission, as transcripts are handled by counselors; is there any way I could (with my counselor) notify the admissions office of these factual errors (even just for record keeping), or has there been any experience with trying to navigate something like this? I don’t expect them to reconsider in any way, but it would be helpful to know. Any insight appreciated!
