For those parents who remember the agony and the ecstacy of visiting colleges, here’s a couple who have made it their life’s mission since they first visited college campuses during their honeymoon 24 years ago and they’ve visited 500 thus far: [Couple spends 24 years visiting college campuses - USATODAY.com](http://www.usatoday.com/travel/news/2008-10-17-college-campus-tour_N.htm?csp=Travel).
I thought you were describing someone like my brother who is just starting his visits with D1, and probably won’t finish for 24 years due to poor planning on kid spacing ;)

I admit that the headline scared me. But the way this couple does it sounds very nice. College campuses are often beautiful with free tours available or at least a walking brochure. There is a lot of local history to be found as well.

Hmmm…maybe once we’re done with official college tours we’ll do a few just for fun. Having grown up in NJ, I recommend touring the Princeton campus to anyone. It’s a lovely way to spend a few hours.

I have them beat by 10 years.

LOL - …and they could only post 6 of them in CC’s “College Visits” page! Thanks for the laugh - maybe it only seems like 24 years!

I actually think this sounds like fun traveling! Especially when you don’t have the stress of picking one! I’ll take over for the next 24 years… :)

While I don’t know if I am “hooked” like the fellow in the story, I can say that I found it more interesting than I would have imagined taking college tours - even when schools are not in session. Did a 12 campus in 3 day tour with goaliegirl last year in this thread…

Fortunately, womens hockey is rather limited in the total number of schools, so 500 is not in the realm of possibilities for us. However, we could end up with a tour through the midwest next summer if school interest warrants…

Well, having worked in higher education for more than 15 years, I’ve attended conferences that were held on college campuses. Maybe I should start totalling up those, plus the schools I visited with the kids. :)

I come up with 40 on my list.

I’ve actually started doing at least a “drive-thru” whenever I am in a college town. I was impressed by the campuses that I toured with my daughters and find myself still looking even though they are both settled and happy at their schools. It’s kind of fun I think, though I probably couldn’t drag either kid along.

Whenever we are traveling and need a place to eat that’s inexpensive but not a chain, we head to a campus area. We always find some interesting, often vegetarian, restaurant.

I like to go to the art museums at colleges and universities. Many schools have a masterpiece or two in their collections that will blow your mind.
