Hi, I’m going for a second bachelors degree so I’m taking the prerequisite class at my community college. I am registered for fall term and I am taking a full time course load (12 credits). I’m taking chem 1, bio 2 with lab online and calculus 1 online. I would do them on campus but I was struggling with trying to be flexible and figure out what works best with me. I’m taking the chem class on campus. I planned on applying for next summer for the combined bachelors/masters program in biological science. My first degree was forensic studies and justice at USF but I chose not to do that because I wasn’t interested when I graduated so I wanted to change my career to biology and work with FWC as a biological scientist. I’ve told my family and they think the class load is have is too much and I don’t want to be stuck at my community college for a long period of time. I’m working Thursday-Sunday day at Publix and I do my school work Sunday night-Wednesday. My question is am I taking on too much? I planned on reviewing for chem and calculus over the summer on my free time so I can be better prepared. I’m currently a bartender and paying off my credit card debt as fast as possible before fall term starts and I’m quitting the bar by August so I am go full time with school and just work Publix.
12 credits is supposed to take 36 hours per week, including class time and out of class homework and reading time.
