I am currently waitlisted in summer lower division sociology course (Socs 5 with Ivester) at Cal.
I know at CC, the instructor adds students at their discretion even when the course was full. Would the same apply at Cal?
The course does have GSI discussion sesseion
I really need to take this course over the summer!

<p>You’ve got a chance. Assuming you’re 5th on the waitlist, it could go either way… section waitlist takes precedence over the lecture waitlist, but both sections have 2 or 3 students waiting so it doesn’t make a huge difference… just stick around and hope for the best. The general rule of thumb for big classes is that about 10% of the waitlist will get in, but Soc is only 40 seats, so who knows.</p>
<p>Try it and see. It might help to talk to the professor about it, and explain that you really need the course, etc. Different classes have different waitlist policies, so it’s really hard to give a definite yes/no on this sort of question.</p>
