<p>Aren’t they on the wait list to be enrolled (waiting to be enrolled)? So the first 24 students on that wait list WILL be enrolled, unless something comes up, in which case the next person on the wait list will be enrolled.</p>

<p>What that means – when there are open seats, but students on the waitlist – is that the professor (or administration) has set a limit on the number of X students s/he will allow to register on Telebears. Juniors, Seniors, Freshmen/Sophomores, English majors, etc. Once that limit is reached, any future students who fit those categories, which are now full, will be funneled to the wait-list.</p>
<p>I also thought it was because students signed up for the lecture, but the discussion/lab segment was full, so even if other discussion sections are open, they are on the waitlist because the specific one they want is full.</p>
