<p>I’m going to assume you’re familiar with the [Core](<a href=“https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/academics/commoncore.shtml”>https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/academics/commoncore.shtml&lt;/a&gt;) before addressing a variety of options for first-year. Your D must take humanities core her first year, and might start out taking math, physics, and comp sci sequences. The good part would be that she’d maximize her exposure to different areas early on. The bad part would be that if she takes a 4/4/4 course load, she only has room for one elective in her first year, which would come if she opts out of a Spring quarter humanities core.</p>
