Is it possible to take courses to just inflate your gpa? Will UC’s care? I have a 3.7 with about 90 units… IGETC completed. I was just gonna take courses from some sections off the IGETC. Any problems?

I don’t think that’s a problem. You could just be taking courses to learn new material. However, Ive been told that after 90 units, the extra courses that you take have no impact on your gpa anymore. Your gpa stays the same however you will receive a grade for those classes.

I could be wrong. Again, I’ve only heard of this. I am not certain.

Thanks dude, anyone else have any info on this?

@Transfer2Best: Not a problem at all. I have more than 100 semester units, many of the courses that I took were just for my own interests, and I transfered just fine. All the uc transferable courses that you take after 90 quarter units will take account into your GPA actually, so you definitately can take additional courses to boost your GPA.

Go for it.

I did it all the time

Art History - A
Intro to Music - A
Intro to Sociology - A
Intro to Psychology - A
Health 1 - A

etc.

Ended up getting into UCB and UCLA.

thanks guys! I actually will have over 90 semester units, is that ok? WIll it still factor into my gpa?

=) I will be have 120 semester units by this spring, as long as all your courses are from community college, not a problem. Every UC transferable course will count into your GPA.

Thanks!!!

depends on why you are taking the courses.
Just remember your GPA doesnt transfer

I am mostly taking it to inflate my gpa to get into pre-biz econ for UCLA
