Couselor Explanation - will it be too much?

I have some “special” circumstances that my counselor feels like she needs to update the school about. The school reports are already sent, so I was wondering if it will be ok for her to write something like this letter to keep them updated. Its not gonna be this exact text but she said that it will be something close to this. I dont want her to make too many excuses… what do you think?

The TEXT:

I am writing this letter as an update to the secondary school record of *********. This letter should go together with the school report and official transcript that has already been submitted.

Because of our school’s inability to match complicated math courses of his native county appropriately with the American system, **was not able to take any advanced mathematics classes until his senior year – he had to take Algebra I and Geometry I despite the fact that he apparently had more than enough knowledge to be placed higher. Since as of today is enrolled and excels in AP statistics, the requirement of taking Advanced Algebra II – a low perquisite of AP statistics – was deemed unnecessary by the school and has been waived. The class has been replaced with ***** University college level dual credit course in Social Justice. I have attached an updated schedule for the second semester.

“despite the fact that he apparently…” makes it sound like she doubts your abilities

algebra, geometry and statistics?

your school doesn’t have calc?

I paraphrased it. It might not be exactly that way.

well those are not the classes I am taking right now. I took them in the past years because they could not place me higher without going through those things first. That is because the foreign school system was hard for them to be fit into an american system. They could not match the different level of courses during my first year when I first came. both algebra and geometry were extremely easy for me. I wish they had some sort of test that would place me higher.

This letter is horribly worded…I can barely understand it.

I guess it is too much to expect your High School to apologize for its gross incompetence.

Your school sucks. You have my deepest sympathies. :(
