Covid -- Additional Booster?

When I got my flu shot I asked Walgreen (Duane Reade) if I was covered for the Covid vaccine. They said if my insurance didn’t cover then the state would. I am in NY.
I probably will get the Covid shot mid October.

Well….I planned to get my COVID shot before flying on October 18. But I just tested positive for COVID…for the first time!

Crazy! At least you should be good to go by the 18th!!! Obvious symptoms??

I have not been able to find any appointments in my area for the new Covid booster. I don’t know if it’s that so many people are getting the booster here in San Diego or if places don’t have it yet. We leave on 10/14 for Europe and really wanted to get vaccinated in the next week.

Tired, and food tastes funny. But that’s it.

H did a better job than me and has secured us appointments to get our vaccines this Friday.

Not covid, but went to get the RSV vaccine today and was told my insurance wouldn’t cover it so I didn’t get it. The pharmacist said it was happening to a lot of people.

Sorry about that. Was it because of your age?

She didn’t say but I’m 63 so that shouldn’t be an issue.

Maybe check with your insurance? I was thinking of getting it myself and I’m also over 60. I was thinking it would be covered though.

The good news is that you will have optimal immunity when you leave on 10/18.

There is a sense of security right after having Covid. Don’t have to worry about that right now.

As long as it’s mild and uneventful.

My mom (80) was told the same (and it would have been almost $300 for the RSV shot if she paid out of pocket I think she said) so she’s going to wait a couple weeks and try again (at a Publix this time) and see if better luck.

Bizarre.

Medicare Part D should cover RSV.

I tried calling my insurer about RSV and they assured me it was 100% covered. Went to Walgreens and they had to have me call again and speak to a BCBS worker, who again confirmed 100% coverage and got that worker’s ID# & the call transaction #.

We have not received any bill, at time of shot or since and it’s been many weeks. My sis and bil got their rsv and flu shots at cvs and again no copay and no issues.

Made appt for covid booster for the day after we get back to hnl, so we will be protected for S’s wedding later in the month.

I got my flu shot last week. I’m on the fence about getting Covid vaccine and moreso RSV vaccine. Covid - I’ve had the two initial vaccines and three boosters, the most recent in October 2022, and had Covid in January 2023. Husband (same vaccinations/boosters as me) had Covid for the first time ever three weeks ago. I didn’t get it even though he insisted it was allergies for 3 days after symptoms began and finally took a test to prove to me that he didn’t have it (after I began sleeping in another room) – he did have it. Despite some health issues he had a mild-moderate case (3 days of fever / no energy and congestion for about a week). I tested every day and didn’t get it this time. No travel planned so I’m thinking about waiting at least a few more weeks.

RSV - I’m 60 and in pretty good health so not sure I want to get that vaccine this year.

Still trying to decide what I’m going to do.

Would be interesting to know what expiration date they have.

Thank you! just ordered

Could be that you got a variant similar enough to the one that he brought in, so that your hybrid immunity including your variant was fully protective against the one that he brought in. XBB.1.5 was beginning to become dominant in January 2023, and many of today’s variants are descendants of and similar to XBB.1.5.
