Got both flu and the new Covid this morning at CVS. The technician was quite good. I didn’t feel a thing. I’ve got a theory about folks who take blood or give vaccinations. A technician either has the touch or not. In other words, he/she can do it and you don’t feel the needle at all or he/she is a complete failure and you feel the needle.
Have a trip coming up so got flu shot last week and Covid (Moderna) booster yesterday. Flu shot burned a decent amount going in but then was fine within 30m secs. Booster was fine going in but arm still aches and had trouble sleeping on it overnight. All my vaccine shots vary in pain/discomfort. It’s funny how each shot is different.
Had forgotten mine, but was full anyway. Walgreens asked to see it on the phone when I registered my arrival - and after the jab, they simply wrote out a new one. But that was in the first days when the new booster had just become available, and BEFORE it was announced that they wouldn’t print more cards.
Yesterday I checked my state’s online record in the state’s app - and it had been updated with the latest record.
The Walgreens where we got covid shots said they don’t have stickers nor cards and will write on your card if you bring it in. That’s it.
We have already almost filled our second card. This was our 6th vaccine. Plus I was in a vaccine research study so have actually had 7.
Apologies if this has been posted already:
Just my luck. I am scheduled to get my flu shot and covid booster at Walgreens on Monday morning. I hope mine is open.
Page linked below writes about what people are thinking regarding the choice between Novavax versus mRNA vaccines:
https://www.science.org/content/article/should-you-pick-novavax-s-covid-19-shot-over-mrna-options
speaking of Novavax…any takers on cc? Thoughts?
I was wondering the same.
As far as I know, only moderna and pfizer so far in my state. my lung docs wanted us to get our booster already so we did—mederna.
I got my Moderna shot with a bad head cold (still recovering from it). It was a none event except with a sore arm. No fever or additional fatigue. I was up coughing more than anything.
Considering it because of hints of greater durability and possibility of slightly different immune system stimulation helping a bit (previously had Janssen and Moderna).
that was my thinking too, but haven’t seen any local places stocking it yet. I’m in no rush, so I’ll see what they have available mid-Nov.
This was my 7th shot, and they just keep putting the stickers on the back. The first few was written on, but the later ones are stickers. The pharmacist said they’d be entered into the state records in a day or two, but I’ve had issues with other shots being recorded
I was supposed to be in the initial Novavax study that was to start in late Dec 2020, but then the Pfizer and Moderna were released and they had to first give all the volunteers who had gotten placebo their vaccines, so didnt contact me back until the second (IIRC) week of January to come in for my first appointment, but since I am in healthcare I was able to, and by then had already, gotten my first Pfizer vaccine. I don’t know anyone who was in that study, and I haven’t seen it available for the current option around here. Just Pfizer and Moderna.
thanks for the insight
Let the countdown begin. Just got my flu & covid shots together. I scheduled it online yesterday for today for me & H. Looked like all time slots everywhere were open. I chose the CVS with Moderna. My last booster was Pfizer and that was the only one I didn’t react to at all, but that also the time when I came down with covid 3-4 months afterwards. Maybe it didn’t take? I dunno, but I figured I’d just go with Moderna.
We also saw the older S’ 1st grade aide there! It was nice catching up. She was actually the one who administered the beginning of year tests to all kids to see what level they were at. She was the one who said “umm. We need to do something about this one. Do you know he’s multiplying 2 and 3 digits numbers together in his head?”
Now just hope I don’t get sick beforehand. It’s 4 days since we got home, so I think we are ok there, but seems that everyone here is sick with something. We don’t test, so who knows. The guy who brought covid to people here last year came to work very sick for 2 days while I was gone. 2 people were talking about over the weekend how awful they felt and slept for 20 hours straight, but they feel better now. And I guilted the guy who sits caddy-corner to me to going home at lunch on Tuesday. He was constantly sniffling, coughing, and moaning. uh dude. He’s back today though. Joy…
H & I both got the new booster soon after it came out. I believe it came out on a Thursday and we got it at different places on Saturday. His was Moderna, mine was Pfizer.
Well we just got back from a trip to Europe. Coughing people everywhere! I’m quicker to put on a mask or step away from a crowd. I don’t tolerate crowds anyway. Once we were home H started to run a fever and have symptoms. Yep, tested positive. It’s just the two of us in a big house so we mostly stay in our own spaces and mask in common spaces like the kitchen. So far I’m negative, but it’s only been a couple of days. He’s definitely sick, but not too bad.
