Covid -- Additional Booster?

Remember those COVID-19 vaccine cards that the US CDC distributed for people to record their vaccinations?

Frequently Asked Questions about COVID-19 Vaccination | CDC indicates that they are no longer available.

But then how often were they used for any purpose other than having another dose of COVID-19 vaccine recorded on?

I had to show my vaccine card twice- once in Fall 2021 at a restaurant in Santa Monica and at the Javits Center in NYC in March 2022 in order to pick up my runners pack for the NYC Half.

Just got my latest booster on Tuesday. My prior shots were Pfizer, but Moderna was the only available to this time we went with Moderna. Neither H nor I have had any side effects and it’s been well over 48 hours.

We had to show our COVID cards to get into our synagogue during the emergency order period.

The Walgreen’s (ME) where we had our SpikeVax two weeks ago must have some of the last ones then because our original card was full, so the tech recorded this one on a new identical card and stapled it to the original.

I’ve had to show my card to get into restaurants and many public places. I had to do the same in Europe.

The pharmacist balked when I asked him to update my card this week (“It’s not required anymore…”), but I insisted.

I had to show mine at an art gallery and a bar.

I got the flu and covid shots this week. I tend to totally forget I got them until I roll over in bed.

I forgot to get the card updated so went around to the front of the pharmacy and she said ‘sure’ and put the sticker on it. If I’ve ever had to show the card (don’t think so), it was after the first 2 shots in 2021. I can’t remember doing it.

I had to show the card or a photo of it to go to concerts and other crowded events. Haven’t had to do that in the past year, though.

My friend’s H was refused the booster a few weeks ago because he didn’t have his vaccination card. This was at a Walgreen’s.

That seems to be a poor reason for withholding a vaccine from someone who wants to get it. Did he go elsewhere to get it?

My original vaccination card was full so I asked for a new one when I got the latest booster. The pharmacist said it was not longer required but had a pile behind the counter and gave me a new one which is now stapled to the old and stored safely with my passport. I don’t know if it’ll ever be needed again but can’t hurt to have it.

He threw his away yesterday. I can’t remember if I did mine or not. We missed one of the doses on it already and you can download/lookup all the info on the Virginia Dept health website. And load it into your phone’s health app. So I don’t really see the need anymore.

Got my flu shot and my covid booster this week – and the pharmacist stapled a new card to the old one. I don’t think I’ve ever been asked to present it, but I know one of my kids had to (for a special event that was held specifically for covid-vulnerable persons)

Yes, he did.

Very weird. I got mine at Walgreen’s and no mention was made of the cards.

When we got our covid vax at Walgreen’s on Monday, we had our vax cards but both of the cards were already full. My sister said when she got hers at cvs, they were given a sticker to add to their cards. I just cut the portion of the paper they gave us, indicating the vaccine we received, quantity and date and staples it to our 2 vaccine cards. I may go back and ask them if we can have stickers to affix to our existing cards (which I had in my purse when we got our shots but forgot to ask about).

We are getting ours today

Seems good to being your card and ask for a sticker to add to it—it can’t hurt.

They put a sticker on our vax cards when we got the new Covid shot at our Ralph’s (Kroger’s) pharmacy 10 days ago.

I will call Walgreens and ask them if they have a sticker to add to our cards before driving there. I and they forgot on Monday.
