CPU benchmark inaccurate

My home has 2 desktops and 1 laptop (thinkpad edge 14 - core i3 M370 + 2GB)

I did performance tests on the 2 desktops… got a 760 passmark on the PC that’s suppose to be 1300, and 270 on the PC that’s suppose to be 540.

I did a performance test on the thinkpad, and it gave a 842.0 passmark the first time, and 840.8 the second time. core i3 M370 is being put at 2200 on the Internet. Is it just me, or is 840.8 much less than 2200???

Should I return the lenovo?

Also, I want to point out that I’ve had the thinkpad for ~2 weeks now, and I can already hear the hard drive clicking. That’s not a good thing.

Why would you return a laptop because of a benchmark score. If you like the speed of it keep it. If you think it is too slow for your liking then send it back.

I’m not an expert but some manufacturers downclock their CPU’s when running in battery. A 2.2ghz processor might be programmer to run at 1.6ghz on battery to save battery life. Check the forums on notebookreview.com. They’re experts.

Run it through a series of non-benchmark programs with the ability to use scripts to be able to create a standardized operation, so you can determine the actual realistic performance of it.
