<p>In line 11, “realize” most nearly means:</p>

<p>My answer - Actualize
Right answer - Conceive</p>

<p>“That any civilized human being in this nineteenth century should not be aware that the earth traveled round the sun appeared to me to be such an extraordinary fact that I could hardly (realize) it.”</p>

<p>I looked up both dictionary definitions and conceive does not fit, or at least as well as actualize.</p>

<p>Actualize means make it a reality while conceive means to form an idea making the latter the right choice.</p>
