Uhhhh so I just took practice 1 from cracking the act 2013. I got 24E, 24M, 15R (depressing), and 22S. So how are these test compared to the real thing. And why am I doing so bad on the reading I try their method and… ughhhhhhhhhhh why?

How old are you, first of all?
I personally think it really depends on your age.
Younger you are, harder it will be.

I’m 15 years old

Have you gone through algebra 2 yet?

Nope I haven’t but i will be this school year because I will now be in 10 grade

Oh alright a large portion of the math section is algebra 2 so it might be throwing you off a bit

You’ve posted on CC alot about your reading difficulties. Since you’re 15 and have some time to increase your reading proficiency, I’d recommend you to read some challenging books to help with your reading skills.

Also everyones optimum method is different. Personally I read through the entire passage fairly fast, go to the questions, and then refer back to the passage if necessary. No underlining, circling, or anything fancy. Yet I’ve scored a 33 and a 34 on the ACT in reading (if only my other scores were like that! haha). If I had any other method my score would be drastically lower.

Now, I’m assuming time is a problem for you in reading, so you can’t read the entire passage like I do. When friends of mine come up to me and tell me time is a problem I normally suggest to read the first paragraph, then the first sentence of all the other paragraphs (to know where to find the answers), and then the last paragraph. If you’re short on time you can even use this to guess on the questions that refer to the passages as a whole.

Ok thanks a lot, I tried using the pr method for reading but that never I guess that doesn’t help.

So guys I’m trying say that are the practice exams in this book like super accurate with I get, because I think that they are a little harder

No, they’re pretty accurate and definitely not harder

Yes but than why do I get more points when i use the red book?

Have you taken a full practice test from both? in any case you’ll do better after 10th gr
just practice what you can improve

Yea thanks I have and from the red book, Princeton 1269, and the red book. But why am I not improving!!! ):

OMG @patton370 I used your method and took a test and got a 24 thanks so much, ahhhh yeh

Any time, I’m glad I was able to help

Yeah it works really well I don’t even have to fully understand the whole passage
