In Craig’s List there are reply to poster (screen name)@craigslist.org. Do you send an e-mail to this screen name? I am afraid of sending my resume on craig’s list because i don’t feel it is as legitimate as Monster. Am I mistaken? The reason why is because I feel the site layout is very rudimentary and not sophisticated like monster. Anyway, is this how we apply to those jobs, and are those screen names legitimate e-mail addresses that get sent to the employer? If anyone knows and can answer that would be great. Thank you.

Use the Craigslist email to send an introductory letter. Introduce yourself and ask if you can contact them with a different e-mail address.

That is a separate step and it may not get a response back, won’t the employer think this person is trying to get the best of me, why does he want my other e-mail, why doesn’t he just send it to my craig’s list address as it gets forwarded to my e-mail account, etc., i mean they may think these things and may not even get back to me if i ask for his real e-mail. True? How do yo apply to Craig’s list jobs, I mean all the jobs listed there are usually ending with craigslist.org addresses, and have a bunch of numbers and letters in the e-mail address. Does that not concern you that your info is going to awkward places, or is this totally normal and safe in craig’s list.

You don’t have to ask for his real email. Just send him an introductory email saying you’re interested in the post and ask him some more questions about the job. If he replies back to you, it is with his real email address. You can’t reply back with the anonymous craigslist address its only used for people replying to the original ad. When he sends back the first message to you, its his real email address, and you can go from there.

Don’t send your resume in the first post, just do the introduction and have them reply back to you, which would be with their normal emails. And all craigslist posts have numbers and end in @craigslist since its used to make sure the poster doesn’t get spammed until eternity by bots and stuff.

As soon as they reply to your first post saying you’re interested in the job, you can see if they have a legit company email and go from there, it’s pretty straightforward.

And its not (screenname)@craigslist.org, each craigslist post is given a unique id, which is what you are calling a screen name, that is used to keep the poster anonymous for good reasons and pretty much all craigslist posts have this, its not the poster creating the random name.

Just use craigslist some more to get a feel for it.

^thanks for that, so what I did was send an e-mail to the recruiter with my Gmail account, saying I was very much interested in the position, and wanted to know what e-mail address I can send my resume to. I sent this message to the "id"@craigslist.org (all of them end like this). So far so good?

Short answer: WITH CAUTION.

Send your resume, but you might keep anything too personal (address, phone number) off of it. It’s best if you just start with a cover letter or general inquiry and only submit your resume if the ad specifically requests for it.

My bf has been applying to craigslist jobs, and got one.

He send a letter first, asking for more info, if they respond, he then sends his resume.

You can usually tell the fakes apart from the real ones. The fakes don’t give a clear description of the job, or are very general. They usually don’t have an exact location, or the claim to pay an unusually high salary.

But it is a great resource. (:

that’s scary s0ad, what would the fakes do with a resume? I mean, how lifeless can they be? What would they actually do?

So far i only sent e-mails of interest and no response yet. and i did it for like 10 listings. weird.

is it ok to put your address and phone on monster? that is much more national and legitimate, and much more common in the US.
