cramming for the win

argh… i said carbonic anhydrase…even though i had no idea *** that was. lol

i said it lowers energy/ATP. i remember that rubisco acting with O2 creates one pga and one something glyceride while with CO2 it creates 2 pga. I was kinda confused by what it meant by preventing though because in some sense, it does prevent one molecule of PGA from being produced, but one still comes out of the reaction. So…yeah.

Edit: Checked in the manual, so it is one Pglycolate and 3pga with rubisco and oxygen while with co2, it’s 2 molecules 3pga.

yeah, the “prevent” part threw me off. that’s why i suspected it was some other choice; however, i thought the choices other than the carbonic anhydrase were wrong. and i didn’t associate “carbonic anhydrase” with photorespiration, so i just choice PGA.

I went with PGA as well.

…so what’s the answer… = =

guess we’ll have to wait and find out.

btw, you guys got None of the above for the one where it was choose the best route for electron transport right?

i was about to choose D i think but then noticed it was missing Cytochrome C in between Complex III and Complex IV.

I’m never sure for those route types of questions either. How specific does he want it to be (I don’t remember seeing UQ in any of the answers)? (And it can’t be that specific if there’s gonna be a none of the above) I might’ve picked D or E not sure.

i put PGA too - if there’s photorespiration, one PGA molecule is “formed” but its converted like in the very next step of the cycle…

and i put D even though some steps were missing

Yea i think i put D too. in the practice exams he had similar questions too that were missing choices. and they weren’t none of the above.

seriously? wow that’s lame…

Are you sure 88888888? I remember similar questions but I put E - none of the above. The ones that had missing parts and were correct had “describe BEST path” and the question on the midterm we took said “describe the pathway” and I knew it was missing the cytochrome C so I put none.

midterm said describe the best path…

Okay I looked at the practice and your right that it doesn’t have a full pathway and it is missing stuff, but those questions have no “E-none of the above” option.

No. I’m 191987429% positive that the Complexes did NOT have “best”. The midterm had 2 pathway questions in which the first said “BEST” and the second one, complexes, did not. I remember explicitly because I was deciding whether to pick none of the above or D and I decided on E because it did not say “BEST” like the first midterm pathway question.

anyone know when we can expect to have the results?

hmm i dunno. i dont want it back

@calbear: that’s funny cuz i am 100% sure it did have “best” in it, but still chose E anyways. then again, i did stay up all night and noticed that i had trouble remembering names later that day LOL.
@jb: monday and tuesday in our discussion sections is wut a former student told me.

… *** already? hmm gg.

it’s just scantron…

true… good point.
