if someone has high reading and math scores, (both 34’s) and then a crappy science section and OK english that brings them down to a 30…will colleges view this for you or against you?

A 30 is a 30 and will most likely be viewed as such. However, be aware that many colleges consider the math and English (not reading) sections the more important. In fact some use only those two sections (Rose-Hulman and Gtech are two that use only math and English and ignore composite, reading, and science – yes, those two engineering schools ignore the science section). Also, be aware that science is generally considered the score that test takers most often raise on a retake; it has something to do with unfamiliarity on first try with the particular test structure of the science section.
