Craziest Dorms

Hey can someone out there rank the freshman dorms for me in terms of their wildness/craziness/party mentality for me.

much appreciated.

Yeah, I would love to know this as well. :)

1) Third North: Largest Freshman Dormitory in America, Traditional Style Dorms with a kitchen and living room, large courtyard connecting the two towers of the dorm buildings. It’s on 3rd Avenue, so there is a nice view of the Chrysler Building and all of the bars and clubs around there are filled with college kids. Most freshman there jsut party in their dorms though.

2) University Hall: Right in Union Square, so the location is BEAUTIFUL. Very Very modern building–looks more like a hotel than a dorm building. The rooms are really nice, practically new and with a kitchen and living room. Partying goes on, but I imagine it isn’t insane. Near third ave, so its a pretty good location.

3) Hayden Hall: Right in Washington Square, so getting to school takes seconds. Nice view, but the rooms aren’t AMAZING. Lots of partying going on in here and everything in the halls seems to be pretty friendly to each other. There is a dining hall right in the building, so eating isn’t a problem.

4) Weinstien Hall: Probably the worst Freshman dorm. The rooms, from what I’ve heard, are like jail cells. The building is pretty nice, located in Washington Square, and has a great dining hall. Partying is pretty cool here too (many many blunts are rolled here!)

5) Goddard Hall: Don’t know too much about it, but it’s located right above the NYU Starbucks, about 10 feet away from Bobst Library, and it’s in Washington Square Park. Best location IMO, but never been inside.

Many of the dorms at NYU are seriously amazing, especially as you become an upperclassman. This year I lived at Water Street, which is right in from on the East River with an insane view of the Brooklyn Bridge. The locations are insane, and most people could only wish they lived in locations as beautiful as the ones we have. Also, since it’s NYC bars and clubs are only a walk away–or in my case connected to my building. One thing you should note, though: NYU is not the typical school in which you go to the dorm parties all semester long or go to a house party. I have quickly assimilated (being a transfer from a traditional school) from house parties to bars and clubs. A fake ID is a way of life, so you need to get one (which is really easy). Join a frat or sorority if you want to meet people to party with–it builds community and I can guarantee you that it is not like at other schools. I see frats here as very classy and used to network, apart from the getting F**cked up and stuff. Don’t get me wrong, you will party in the dorms but eventually you will start to go out on the town.

Hope that helps.

wow. no goddard is not crazy at all. i agree with all the above but put hayden as number 1. i lived in goddard by the way

why am I not surprised that the choice that I put on the housing app. as my #1 is party hard dorm. Oh well I’ll manage
