Yeah, you’re probably right. I would only send a deck, not a whole skateboard tho. Should I maybe take a picture with kickflipping some stairs or something with it? (Although it’ll be a while coz i rolled my ankle the day after i got deferred, sigh…)

idk the benefit of that…but it won’t hurt i’m sure, and who knows how it may be received :)

again, photoshop. take it with a dig, and have yourself kickflipping infront of the Ben Franklin statue or THE BUTTON. A good photoshop job, but if you don’t live nearby (actually, prob especially if you DO live nearby) make it just imperfect enough so that they know what you did (don’t want them thinking (A) you took a trip to philly for a photo, or (B) you’ve been skating around on their campus)

Before this thread completely dies, I would like a couple more opinions if you guess don’t mind. I think I might just put a lot of effort into my essay instead of relying on a risky gimmick such as sending a Hummel figurine, instead tie into my essay about how many Hummels are successful (figurines, clothing line, musician)?

I would just write a really, really good essay, but if you never take the risk, you’ll always be kicking yourself for not trying. Still, there have been so many deans and admissions officers who take these things as a joke and sham. Be creative and be tasteful. If you send the Hummel, your accompanying essay better be really, really good and that Hummel thing should be just a prop/supplement…not everything

This site is pretty awesome to guide deferral techniques

yeah, baby!

i just had to use the quotes!

my post got removed, but I was gonna say you can get some Hummel figurines cheap some places… but since you already have a bunch, this is just too creative not to do

I have gotten some mixed feelings on this, I think I should write an essay and send the fig with a quote to supplement the greatness of the name hummel

ya, that pretty much covers all your bases… it shows you put thought into it, and that it’s not just a gimmick

Thanks for your help!
