Creating a separate CSS account for divorced parents

I’m a parent. Collegeboard says:

Other Parent Accounts

If you are the primary parent and do not want to share financial information on your student’s account, you may create a separate College Board student account using your (the parent’s) information.

https://cssprofile.collegeboard.org/profile-for-parents

I’m doing it but it’s really confusing. The web interface doesn’t really reflect the above method. Some issues:

  • On the student’s account it forces the student to say one of the parents will enter their data in their account, and does not allow the student to say, “Both of my parents will fill out their separate forms.”
  • When a parent signs in you have to enter all kinds of demographic info for the student (as opposed to just enough to identify the student), creating opportunity for errors.
  • The process for linking accounts into a single profile is not apparent.

Anyone else doing it this way & want to share notes?

To all those who will respond: “it’s better if parent A just enters their financial info into student’s account.” Understood, thank you. I just prefer to do it this way.
