they tell you they go to these conventions where 87 of the worlds richest 100 investors would show up. how many of them are lying? i just did an interview with a LLC where they dont even have a website…

What you are asking? Is your goal to seek employment? Are you in the process of interviewing?

im a college student seeking an internship at a hedge fund.

a little bit late in the game. What year are you? Who did you interview with?

from one firm:
**
Who came to your campus and did you seek the interview at that time?

i found the internship opporunity myself. i dont want to reveal the name of the company. its a summer analyst intern position at a hedge fund where i will be asked to develop and maintain relationships with the complete spectrum of hedge fund investors. i would say its comparable to FNYS and Brighton.

I guess your point escapes me. Your question was about lying? Tell us more clearly what it is you are asking for? Maybe you are venting about the job you just got?

Hedge Funds are super private and secretive. Take a look at Renaissance Technologies (arguably one of the best hedge funds out there), its 2 pages I think and really shabby.

well, if they said they want you to “maintain relationships with the complete spectrum of fund investors” it sounds like bollocks to me. why are they relying on an analyst to develop relationships with investors? if you had $10 mil you wanted to invest would you go with the hedge fund that sent their summer analyst to do their pitch? I doubt it. And also, it is very late in the game, the only funds still hiring are ones that are giving out meaningless positions or funds that gave out offers to kids who did not accept. Either of these sounds like a place I wouldn’t want to work.
