Credible or Worthless EC's?

Are any of these any good?
Do colleges really care if they see these, or are they a worthless drain of your funds?

Presidential Classroom Scholars
National Young Leaders Conference
NSHSS
Who’s Who

All are worthless

Who’s Who basically sells you your spot; Young Leaders is a glorified, over-priced summer camp (B average and no police record = admit). Save your money. Do something worthwhile instead.

Haven’t heard of the other two, but if you received a super fancy invitation in the mail, they’re probably more worthless activities which cost $$$.

Well it isnt all about how colleges look at them i had a good time at Natl Young Leaders COnference.

Have you even heard of Who’s Who? idiot

Who’s who is considered low by many people however you should definitely join because it’s free… just don’t bother buying the packages…

NYLC is pretty fun from what people tell me and i am sure it will help

do colleges really care about NYLC or any of these though?

^Admissions Daniel on the JHU forum made a post about those forum things. Search for it. He said something to the effect of, “Any activity like NYLC that you go and do shows that you made an effort to enrich yourself, and it is appreciated by admissions.”

I hear that unless it’s one of those programs that only like .1% of the top academic performers are explicitly invited too, they’re all the same. It’s best to attend a summer program closest to you and make sure that the classes or programs you take are of the same general field as the major you plan to pursue.
