Credit hours removed from only half the course that I have retaken?

In my second semester as a college student I failed all 4 of my classes. In my third semester I re-took 2 of the 4 classes and received B’s in both of them. In my fourth semester I re-took the other 2 courses and received a B in one of them, but failed the other again.

On my transcript it says that the GPA hours from the courses I re-took in my third semester have been removed, but the GPA hours from the courses I re-took in my fourth semester are still there. So now instead of me having 36 GPA hours, I now have 42. This is a huge different because I am now still not in good academic standing where as if I had 36 gpa hours I would be. Why is it that they only removed 6 of my GPA hours when I have re-taken all 4 classes??? Shouldnt they have removed all 12 to get an accurate re-calculation of my GPA? This is really screwing me over big time so I need to know why. Is it possible they have made a mistake? Should I go to my school and talk to someone about this. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?!

On my transcript it says when I signed up to retake my first two classes my repeat status changed to “E” for both of them. When I got a grade for them, the status changed to “I”. This however is not the case for my other two classes. The other two classes that I retook do not have anything under repeat status. What is up with this?

This is one of those things that’s so specific, you really need to talk to your registrar or adviser about it. Every college has different policies, so there’s no easy answer here. It could be that your college has a retake cap, meaning you can only retake a certain number of credits to replace old grades. But really, we have no way of knowing.
