Is it true that law school check your credit report and factor that into their admissions decision, or is my mother just crazy?

I haven’t heard of law schools checking your credit report, but many potential employers will do so as part of their background check, which is typically performed as a condition to any offer of employment. In other words, if you have bad credit, it may not come up when you apply to law school but it will likely come up on the way out.
