<p>I’ve detested these(although this is probably my third time in a year) things but find as college deadlines approach, apprehension and anxiety start to grow exponentially so here it goes…
Chances please!
no use in telling me to improve on such and such seeing as i’m a senior and apps are being turned in for me in nov
Senior currently
Race: Hispanic
GPA: 3.6 UW 3.6 weighted- that’s with a 1.5 freshman year attributed to divorce issues that have obviously been resolved and which will be noted in counselor rec.
Last semester gpa- 4.37
Current quarter GPA= 4.51
Teacher Rec’s- one from calculus/precalc teacher who is known for writing good recs for deserving students the other from a crazy liberal history teacher
Tests:
ACT- TBA taking in Oct practice tests indicate around a 34

Visited Harvard and loved it- though the campus wasn’t as nice as i thought it would be, but that’s inconsequential.
Essays: one on coping with divorce, the other undecided as of right now. Both should be great, I consider myself a good writer, although that means nothing to persons that don’t know me or my writing.
Community Service: so far i only have about 70 hours. I recently tried Habitat for the first time and loved it and will continue it throughout senior year and in the future.
Currently creating websites for non profit organizations for free. Have been helping parents clear out my recently passed away aunt’s house on the weekends- there was so much junk.
Honors:
Precalculus pre AP highest grade award
National Spanish exam honorary mention =((((
Principal’s list for past 4 semesters - 4.0 and up
nothing really spectacular, i will be sending a resume as well which highlights my passion for mathematics and reading and the activities that I do unofficially with those.
anyways- sorry for the relatively long list
thanks in advance</p>
<p>your GPA is very low :(</p>
<p>which is why their is a disclaimer explaining it was attributed to a horrendous freshman year due to divorce issues. if you had read on you would’ve seen a 4.37 all 98s except 2 95s last semester and a 4.5 right now
also my course load= most rigorous at school.
i held a job during the last summer as well forgot to include that.</p>
<p>I say you have a good shot. My hispanic friend who’s at Harvard now had a lower GPA and his EC’s weren’t as impressive as yours.</p>
<p>nooo but i did read on; i was just noting the fact that it’s low!</p>
<p>why did you have to get mad :(</p>
<p>good chances for a URM. Honestly, I don’t think Harvard is going to care about a crappy freshman year, especially since your situation is going to be explained by your counselor. You’re a good applicant, but it’s hard to give an answer when we don’t know about your ACT/courseload (although you specified that it was more rigorous, that can maen a lot of things).</p>
<p>eating food: lol i wasn’t getting mad i was just saying
as for courseload: this year i have AP Calculus, AP Chem, AP literature, Religion(required), art(required), comm tech (required), psychology, and Economics at local college. I am doing self study for AP Physics B since my school doesn’t offer it and i love physics.<br>
our school doesn’t offer too many AP’s because they give so much homework as it is that they think it’s impossible. Most people that have the same courseload as I say they average anywhere from 3-5 hours a night. Though our school has had about 2 kids get accepted to Harvard/MIT/Stanford every year.
anyways thanks</p>
