Critical reading crisis

What is the best way to improve your score on the critical reading section in the shortest amount of time possible? Reading for pleasure, reading NY TIMES, or doing practice critical reading tests?

Its hard to improve in critical reading in a short amount of time, because to get better at reading it takes reading a lot, over a long period of time. SImply reading 4 hard novels in a row won’t cut it - you have to allow your mind to adjust to advanced vocabulary and deeper meaning sentences.

the best, and really only way to improve, in a short amount of time is to take the practice tests in the blue book. You can get a grip of what the answers will be like. For example, I had no clue what any of the last 2 questions of a CR section was this past May Sat - but since I knew the test format from taking so many practice tests, I took a highly educated guess because I know what type of answers come at different times of the test. Its hard to explain, but you get a good feel for what possible answers are.

Also, study vocab
